Edna Elizabeth 2nd was a replacement B-24. Her RCL was #54. This RCL reflects a post 376th HBG assignment. She probably flew 13 missions. It is not clear when she was replaced by 41-24024.
Initially, her serial number was unknown. After consultation with the B-24 research team, it was decided that she was 41-11794. 41-11794 was a 98th Bomb Group plane that crashed on the August 9, 1942 mission. It has always been assumed that she was then written off.
However, comparison of the location of the name of 41-11794, "The Stork" on her starboard side, with the patchwork on the starboard side of Edna Elizabeth 2nd shows where the name did reside. See the second image.
There is a photo of her with the nose wheel collapsed. When this occurred is not known.
There is also no known assignment after her March 13, 1943 mission.

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.
Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
