Berwyn F. Nicholas
Staff Sergeant, U.S. Army Air Forces
515th Bomber Squadron, 376th Bomber Group, Heavy

This is my great grandfather. I never really was told much about him, I wish I could know a lot more. I know one of his brother's was still alive at the time when I found out all of his information from the war.

I know he is memorialized in the Tablets of the Missing in Italy. If anyone has more information on his unit I would greatly appreciate it if you could contact me. Thank you!

Hi Erica. It is very possible that your great grandfather was on the same flight as my uncle. Do you know the date of missing aircraft or MACR?

where was the 515 376 bomber group trained
by: Anonymous

My namesake, cousin A W Lain was in this bomber group on a B24 as a nose gunner, June 16th, 1944 he was killed by a German fighter plane machine guns. Soon after he was killed the plane they called The Wheel took a direct hit from ground fired anti air to the right wing. The wing came off and all but one died in that tragic situation. The one survivor managed to get out and parachute to the ground where he was captured by the Germans and in prison for the remainder of the war. After liberated he wrote this detailed account of what happened.

Does anyone know were the 376 515 was trained?

MACR

My uncle Maxwell Quartner was on that mission as well.
I was in contact with the USAF and they sent me information (as little as they had). My mother and I also did our DNA and it turned up nothing. I was in contact with the nephew of Joseph Sekerak right before 9/11. I wrote to him but did not hear back from him. You can contact me at ajmiller2626@gmail.com. If you have questions and I can be of any help just let me know. In the subject field please put Maxwell Quartner.

My Uncle Jim was also in this crew. I am trying to find info as well. Mostly trying to find about the other missions they had flown. In the picture he is in the front row, 3rd from the right. My dad was only 10 when his brother was reported as MIA and he doesn't really like to talk about him.

376 ARCHIVES

The website 376bg.org is NOT our site nor is it our endowment fund.

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.

Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
