James Collison was a pilot in the 512th Squadron. He was originally the co-pilot on the Wilfred Hines crew. He was later given his own crew.
James kept a diary of his time overseas. Regarding his missions, his diary stops after the July 19, 1943 mission. He flew on the August 1 Operation Tidalwave mission, but his crew was interred in Turkey for nearly two months. Meanwhile, the 376 re-located to Italy and his personal effects were stored. He was then shot down on December 28, 1943 and was a POW for the duration of the war.
The website 376bg.org is NOT our site nor is it our endowment fund.
At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.
Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
