James Collison mission April 10, 1943

APRIL

Saturday 10

Naples

Today it actually happened. I went on my first raid - Naples - was the target. It was very thrilling and not half as frightening as I thought it would be. Coming off the target I was nervous and thought of all the things that could have happened. The entire flight was 9:30 hours-we met fighter opposition-and medium anti-aircraft fire. I'd say there were about twenty to thirty fighters (Me-109 - Macchi-202-200 - one Ju-88). The Ju-88 dropped two light bombs on the formation. Have heard no report as to the damage done. Sgt. Hickey had a bullet from an ME 109 go through his jacket. Plenty close call I'd say. ........

376 ARCHIVES

The website 376bg.org is NOT our site nor is it our endowment fund.

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.

Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
