Messina
Today is Mother's Day-makes me wish I were home. We went on a raid today to Messina, Sicily. We didn't get there due to engine failure. We turned back on the coast of Italy and feathered No. four engine. We returned with all the bombs (three, two thousand pounds). Fred made a good landing despite the fact an engine was out and the bombs were still intact. Received a letter from Mother today-was very glad to hear from her. ..... Bob and I went for a swim in the Mediterranean-the surf was swell and we had a lot of fun. We are posted for the next mission. That is all for today. .....

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.
Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
