Elvin L. Severson

I don't have a story, but am looking for information. I know he was a pilot with the 376th and I know his plane was shot down and he was injured. But I would like to know more about his service. He was my dad's brother. Dad was in the Navy and neither one of them talked about their service. Would love to know more.

Will do. Wish I knew how to get in touch with his niece, who's looking for info! Dad often talks about that mission. (He was never one to keep his service life under wraps, though I'm quite sure he hasn't told us everything.) He's had an interesting, fulfilling life for a "small town boy." We just lost my mom Sept. 1st at age 91 and we are all missing her terribly, especially at this season. After the holidays I'll put something together for you. I never tire of reading and hearing about the Greatest Generation.

My Dad Was In That Plane!
by: Laurie Blair

Just checking this site for info for my nephew, who had a question about "Papa," and imagine my surprise to see this post! My dad flew as a top turret gunner and was in Elvin Severson's crew. He was in the plane when they were shot down and has told of it many times. Dad is still kicking at 94 1/2 years old and could definitely fill you in further!

376 ARCHIVES

The website 376bg.org is NOT our site nor is it our endowment fund.

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.

Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
