“No Guts”
Mission #14 – target – Romano-Americano oil refinery at Ploesti Romania. Takeoff 0615 landing 1130 (0515) Total combat hours (6725) Load – 5000 lbs ( 500 lb incendiary clusters each containing 120 bombs to a cluster) Remarks:
1) Upon approaching within one hour of the target, it was decided that the target would be obscured by clouds. We returned home without bombing an alternate because incendiary clusters are effective against only oil plants or wooden installations.
2) Bucksheesh no flak no fighters
3) We brought our bombs back and landed with them
4) No casualties
5) Mission #14 granted due to the fact that we went 2/3 of the way to the target

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.
Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
