Scottsbluff, Nebraska

My father, Robert E. Mitchell, was the copilot on James E. Murphy's B-24 crew. According to his flight log, they were still in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on 11/17/43. On 1/25/44 they had their first B-24 flight in San Pancrazio. James Murphy was pulled out of the crew for a special mission, and the crew never saw him again. By February the crew had a new pilot, James B. Grimmer. On 3/2/44 they had their first combat mission. The crew flew their 50th combat mission on 7/6/44.

376 ARCHIVES

The website 376bg.org is NOT our site nor is it our endowment fund.

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.

Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
