Samuel D. Rose - Mission April 6, 1943
I flew anything available after that. (The loss of the Lady Be Good) April 6th we bombed the ferry slips at Messina Sicily. The Germans used the harbor to unload fuel and supplies. Then distributed them allover Sicily and into North Africa. We dropped 6 1000 lbs. bombs and got shot up pretty bad. My waist gunner Roscoe Hoover was killed by flak and Allen Leavy froze his hand at 20 thousand feet our thermometer registered °50 below and no heat in the back of the plane.

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.
Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
