May 9 I flew co-pilot for Ed Feely for his last mission before going home. I flew the whole mission from the right seat because he was so busy and nervous with all the fighters around. Only six out of twelve ships got to the target, they dropped out for one thing or another. We went to Messina again that trip, a lot of fighters and black anti aircraft fire. They were shooting side ways at us from the top of Mount Etna and all the way up.

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.
Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
