Samuel D. Rose - Mission June 17, 1943
Back to combat, on the 17th June we hit Comiso Sicily air field. We made two passes at the target, my number two engine cut out at Alt. and the right main landing gear dropped down after leaving target. With that much air brake on one side we almost made a hooker in the sky. We got it up and went home. We were close to Malta so they gave us Spitfire cover, but the mission was very poor.

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.
Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
