July 8. Bombed Catania Sicily. We took a 3 1/2 minute bomb run and did a good job. We got a A/A shell up through and out the top before it went off. On the way it went past my foot and cut some control cables. Only the trim tab cables as it proved out so we were lucky. For the next three hours the copilot and I braced our feet against the pedals, locked our arms behind the wheel and pulled back to keep the nose up. When we got down we could hardly move.

At the 2017 reunion, the board approved the donation of our archives to the Briscoe Center for American History, located on the University of Texas - Austin campus.
Also, the board approved a $5,000 donation to add to Ed Clendenin's $20,000 donation in the memory of his father. Together, these funds begin an endowment for the preservation of the 376 archives.
